What You Need to Know About INM

 

The essential role of the the Institute for Natural Medicine (INM) is to serve as the primary philanthropic foundation for naturopathic medicine.

 

The INM Purpose: INM is a 501C3 nonprofit organization that funds public benefit projects that raise public awareness of naturopathic medicine.

 

The INM Mission: To advance naturopathic public education, education and research

 

INM Funding: INM is supported through foundation grants and through generous individual supporters, who receive a tax-deduction for their cash donations. At least 85 cents of every dollar received goes directly to project funding.

 

What INM Funds:

ü      National and state initiated public education projects classes and events that promote awareness of naturopathic medicine.

ü      Informational publications, public service announcements and other public education and media projects.

ü      Scholarships, fellowships and residencies for naturopathic students and alumni.

ü      Professional Naturopathic Educational Conferences

ü      Continuing Education Opportunities for Affiliated Health Professions

ü      Other special projects that are compatible with INM purposes.

 

The INM advances projects that contribute to advancing public awareness and access to naturopathic medicine. The INM is seeking donor support for the funding priorities listed below. Grant recipients must sign a statement certifying that they do not discriminate in their leadership, staffing, or service on the basis of age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, political affiliation or religious belief.

Grant recipients must complete an Institute for Natural Medicine grant application with a summary cover sheet signed by the applicant organization's Board Chair, or the Chair's designee.Organizations must agree to participate in evaluation of the project's effectiveness. INM does not fund lobbying activities.

 

How to support public education in your area:

 

  • As a 501C3 public benefit nonprofit organization, INM is eligible to receive grants from other foundations and governing agencies, and can give tax deductions to donors for cash donations.

 

  • INM has established restricted funds for public education projects for individual states.

 

  • States raise money for INM through fundraising and building relationships with local foundations. INM awards grant money for eligible state public education projects.

 

  • If your state/organization has a project that falls within INM guidelines for a public education project, you should outline your project in a concept paper and attach a draft budget. Forward your concept to INM for technical advice on how to proceed.
