Walfred J. (Wally) Fassler

Wally Fassler, formerly Chevron’s Regional Vice President, General Representation-Southern California, died December 13, 2002 at his home in Los Angeles. He died of complications from pancreatic cancer, which had been diagnosed 14 months ago. Wally began his career with Chevron in 1956 working in service station maintenance and Retail sales. During his 41 years with Chevron, Wally was priveleged to have twice represented his company in the state of Hawaii in several different positions. There he developed a strong connection with the island’s spirit of Aloha. Wally retired in November 1997. In his capacity as Regional Vice President he was a leader in the following organizations:

Fassler served on former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley’s Job Training Assessment Panel and most recently as a member of the California State Department of Education’s Rewards and Interventions Advisory Committee.
He was the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank, Los Angeles Branch. He served for 10 years on the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as an Executive Committee member and was chair of the Education Committee.
Wally Fassler was born in Lakeview, Oregon in 1936. He attended the College of San Mateo and the University of Nevada at Reno, majoring in geology. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco in 1971. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Wally is survived by his wife, Vida; their four children - Kristy Fassler-Hecht, Kathy Fassler-Harris, Kenneth Fassler, and Karen Fassler-Gillespie; their six grand children; three great grand children; his parents Jean and Joseph Fassler; sister Lynn Fassler, and brother Greg Fassler.
